The Downtown Disney District is only an eight-minute walk away from the Tropicana Inn & Suites! It’s a place to dine, have some fun, and explore a variety of retail and Disney®-themed shops. It’s a great compliment to any Disney® vacation, and theme park tickets are not required for this district. 

What Is the Downtown Disney® District?

As an all-out entertainment destination, the Downtown Disney® District is full of fun things to do for all ages. The open-air outdoor shopping and dining environment allows guests to experience everything Disney® and so much more. Plus, each night there are late-night entertainment options that are featured in this event calendar.

There is also a jazz club called Flambeaux’s Jazz Club located in Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen with New Orleans-style bands performing each night. For games and general merriment, try out the Splitsville Luxury Lanes, an upscale bowling alley and sports bar with culinary delights that will please everyone in your family. Plus, Ballast Point Brewery offers award-winning beers and delicious Southern California cuisine. 

Getting to the Downtown Disney District

From the Tropicana Inn & Suites, it’s a short and simple eight minute walk across the street. Should you choose to drive, the parking is easy to find with signs that will guide you to the Simba Parking Lot, where you can find self-parking at Downtown Disney District. It’s located off Disneyland Drive. The first hour of parking costs $10, but if you purchase something for at least $20 or dine in one of the restaurants, parking will be valid for 3 to 5 hours. Each additional hour costs $14.

Restaurants You Should Try

The dining options are incredible in Downtown Disney District. You can make reservations for many of the restaurants there with the special Disney online reservation system. There’s something for everyone’s tastes, including Italian at Naples Ristorante e Bar, Mexican at Tortilla Joe’s, and breakfast at Catal Restaurant or La Brea Bakery Cafe. 

Places to Visit While There

There are lots of Downtown Disney® District shops that offer unique Disney®-themed items. Don’t miss the Star Wars Trading Post for anything involving the blockbuster franchise of movies. The Lego® Store is another popular destination for families with a bounty of tiny brick sets that feature Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars themes. For soccer fans, the Pele Shop is a fun place to go which is a tribute to the great Brazilian soccer player. Sweet treats can be found at Marceline’s Confectionary in the way of old-fashioned candy. Fun fact, it was named after the town in Missouri where Walt Disney lived as a boy.
