Celebrating a new year on the lunisolar calendar and the arrival of spring, Lunar New Year is a time for family and festivities. From January 17 through February 16, 2025, you can experience this colorful, cultural celebration during the annual Lunar New Year festival at Disneyland®. Whether it’s sampling delicious Asian-inspired cuisine or watching elaborate parades, there are dozens of ways to immerse yourself in Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultural traditions—all while enjoying that special Disney® magic. Add in some other Anaheim celebrations outside the park, and you’re in for a full experience!

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession

A festival highlight is Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession. This lively parade features Mulan, Mushu, and a large cast of drummers, dancers, and warriors. Expect beautiful, intricate costumes inspired by traditional attire and energetic performances when the procession stops. The procession starts at Hollywood Land and ends in Paradise Gardens, and each year new floats are added. Catch this special event on select days during the Lunar New Year festivities—usually weekends and one or two weekdays.

Lunar New Year Wishing Wall

Speaking of Paradise Gardens, stick around after Mulan’s Procession to find the Wishes Wall. Under an enchanting canopy of lights and lanterns, visitors have a chance to add their own messages or wishes to the wall.

Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration

A short pre-show just ahead of iconic World of Color – ONE in Disney California Adventure® Park, Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration is both heartwarming and dazzling. The story follows Little Lantern’s journey home for Lunar New Year alongside dazzling water effects, colorful projections, and touching music created by Tan Dun, an Academy Award-winning composer.

Meet Your Favorite Disney Characters in Festive Attire

One of the things children and families love most about Disneyland® is interacting with their favorite characters, and Lunar New Year festivities bring a unique twist to that experience. During the festival, beloved characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse greet guests in special Lunar New Year outfits. However, the real highlight is the opportunity to meet rare characters, including Mulan, Mushu, and Meilin Lee and her mom from “Turning Red.” Keep your eyes open for special themed Year of the Snake photo ops, decked out with lanterns, banners, bamboo, and peach and cherry blossoms.

Delicious Food and Festive Marketplace Booths

Much like Disney’s Christmas season and annual Food & Wine Festival, food is a tremendous part of the Lunar New Year festival. You’ll find beautifully decorated booths offering bold Asian-inspired dishes with a signature festive Disney twist. Think savory dumplings, strawberry milk tea macarons in the shape of Mickey’s ears, and unique drinks like Vietnamese-style Iced Coffee you won’t find anywhere else—or any time else.

Insider tip: pick up a Sip and Savor Pass so you can try several items. The collectible, limited-edition pass lets you sample six food items or non-alcoholic drinks.
