Spring break is a great time to visit Disneyland®, especially if you’re coming from parts of the U.S. that are still fairly cold this time of year. Anaheim’s warm weather is a welcome respite and there are plenty of things to do and see. Here are some top tips for planning your trip to Disneyland® during spring break and where to stay to be near all the fun.

Pros & Cons of Visiting Disneyland® During Spring Break

Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of visiting Disneyland® in Anaheim during spring break:

Pros

  • Mild weather and cooler temperatures than in the summer. In the spring, afternoons are sunny but the temperatures are lower than they are in the summer months, making it easier to stay all day and decreasing the risk of heat exhaustion.
  • Access to spring-exclusive Disneyland® events. Disney® hosts limited-time events throughout the year, many of which take place only during the spring, like the Food & Wine Festival at California Adventure Park, Season of the Force, and Easter at Disneyland®.
  • Fewer crowds the earlier you go. The earlier you go in the season – and the earlier you go in the day – the fewer people you’ll see in the park. Crowds peak in the mid to late afternoon, when many locals arrive and visitors head back to their hotels for a break before visiting the park for evening festivities.
  • Discounts. Disneyland® may not have a “slow” season, but the park often offers promotional ticket prices between the months of January and March to entice people to plan their trips during this time. You may be able to take advantage of lower prices when you visit Anaheim in the spring versus the summer or for the Christmas holidays.

Cons

  • Potential for rain. Unfortunately, the old rhyme “April showers bring May flowers” holds true in Anaheim, and spring tends to be the wettest season of the year. If you visit Anaheim during spring break 2024, be sure to have umbrellas on hand and backup plans in case it starts to rain.
  • With school out, there are more kids in the park. If you prefer smaller crowds of children, spring may not be the best time to visit Disneyland®. A better time to go might be early May, when kids are back in school after spring break but before they get out for the summer.

Top Tips to Avoid Crowds During Your Trip

Here are some simple but effective tips to steer clear of large crowds during your spring break at Disneyland®:

  • Visit popular attractions in the morning. The park is least crowded during the morning hours, which means there will be shorter lines for popular attractions that normally have long waits. Prioritize your family’s favorite rides and schedule your day accordingly.
  • Eat during off-peak hours. Disneyland’s restaurants and snack carts are busiest between 11 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm. If you plan meal times during off-peak hours, you may be able to avoid some of the lunch and dinner crowds. For example, you could have breakfast at your hotel, brunch in the park around 10 am, lunch at 3 pm, and a late dinner at 7 or 8 pm.
  • Have backup plans. It’s always a good idea to have a plan B for every item on your itinerary. Not only do you want to have another option in case of rain, you should include a less popular attraction just in case crowds are too large at your original destination.
  • Pack like it’s summer. California has beautiful weather year-round, but lots of sunshine also means plenty of chances to get sunburned. Pack items you would normally take for a summer vacation, like sunscreen, swimsuits, and sunglasses.
  • Book a hotel close to the park. If you stay at a hotel nearby, you can easily walk back to rest or drop off souvenirs. You can head back to the park in the evening for dinner, fireworks, or a Disney® After Dark event!
